NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC
Photos I've taken of our alcohol minimum thermometers were used by the National Geographic for their show, "The Science of Winter" which aired on the National Geographic Channel in February 2007.

L.A. PIERCE COLLEGE ON THE BIG SCREEN!
I loaned some weather sensors and shelters that were used as set dressing in the upcoming Adam Sandler movie titled, "You Don't Mess with the Zohan" expected to come out in theaters June 6, 2008.

The scene at the Israeli airport in Tel Aviv shows Sandler's character walking across the tarmac; In the background you will see a weather station set up on top of a concrete building. Yep.. that's the one! Don't blink or you might miss it! Though the equipment belonged to Steve, he asked that Los Angeles Pierce College be named in the credits.

TELEVISION COMMERCIAL SHOOT
Steve also used wind sensors loaned to him by fellow climatologist, William T. Reid, along with his own equipment to determine wind speeds for a Toyota truck commercial shoot out in Barstow, California. These measurements were used to calibrate 8-foot diameter industrial fans that were used in a stunt.

This commercial will air soon if it isn't airing already. The commercial shows a truck towing a large trailer across a narrow bridge. On one side of the bridge along it's entire length are a set of about 20 industrial fans blowing 100 mph winds against the side of the truck as it crosses the bridge. A special thanks to certified weather observer, Jamie Stern, for helping me out on that project!
